I have way more than my fair share of regret. Why have I made all the mistakes that I have? How could it have turned out this way? A life lost? A life wasted.

I went to Seattle for New Years eve. The past couple of years my GF and I went to Vegas. We were unable and mostly unwilling to go this year. Actually, we had packed for Seattle and come 2 p.m. decided not to go. However, I changed our minds by 3 and we were off.

The weather sucked. Rain, wind, rain, wind, etc. I did a little research and chose a quiet little park on Queen Anne hill.

The shot everyone seems to enjoy was the first one I took. And the only one I found acceptable. I screwed up the composition on all the rest except for after the fireworks. Which, by the way, were terrible to photograph due to the high wind blowing the smoke and stuff all over the place. The shots after the fireworks were then screwed up by all the annoying aircraft. Then the lens finally got covered with rain drops.

So, at home, I battled the new Nikon capture program. It is actually quite nice to work with, but I am learning it and the camera. Which reminds me, I'm not familiar with the camera all that much, yet.

And then sent it off to Photoshop...

Typically, I do everything I can not to change the photo. I only adjust the contrast, lighting, crop, etc. But the GF wanted a little red. So she got a little red. And I think it goes with all the Christmas lights you can see throughout the city.

All in all, we broke up (as usual), she cried, we got back together (as usual), and I came away with a nice photo people enjoy.

Cause, I usually say blatantly mad crap So I'm staying away from it. But, after many hours with the manual, I'm getting more comfy with the camera
